YesterCards - I just have to Vent!

Hi Everyone!
How have you been? Great I hope! I'm anxiously awaiting spring. I know it's coming pretty quickly the birds and squirrels around here have been pretty busy trying to get their families started for the next season. I know, TMI, but it just reinforces that the dreary weather will soon be gone and the flowers will soon be showing their gorgeous colors.

I'd like to get on my soap box for a little bit today. I was browsing through Pinterest the other day and I noticed a pin on an image that I have in my collection. Of course whenever I run across something like this, my curiosity gets the better of me and I have to check it out. And boy was I surprised and disappointed.

I discovered that the site has several of my images listed for sale and that one of my images is their top seller. Now comes the mixed emotions. I'm pretty proud that from all the sellers of vintage images that mine were selected for their site - my images must be pretty darn good. Then the anger sets in. How dare they use my images without first consulting with me!

Now, you may be wondering how I know they are mine. Well, I can tell by the way the graphics present themselves on my images. I've cleaned up and edited so many cards that I can pretty much tell whether it's one that I've had my hands on or not. It's kind of like asking a person how they know that a painting is the one that they painted. One becomes intimately involved in their creation and can recognize the results of their habitual practices. Over time, I have developed a method to my madness and I can see my work in the resulting image. I know that there could be multiple copies of the card floating around out there and I've seen copies of the original card being sold and they could have legitimately acquired it from a different source. I have also encountered other image sellers who do sell some of the same images as myself. But this particular site has too many of the same images that are contained on the same CD for it to be a happy coincidence.

The next thing I always look for is their terms of use and the copyright information that they display. Isn't it funny, that their copyright information follows almost word for word as to what's stated in my TOU but they also add a disclaimer about rote scans not counting toward creating a new copyright. This I totally agree with, no one can ever claim that a plain scan of a Public Domain document now has a new copyright and that the original document's copyright now belongs to them. But then again, if the image is part of a collection that collection can be protected under the copyright laws. I can't help but think they added this rote scan information to cover their "borrowing" practices.

My images are not rote scans. I can spend hours and hours working on a card, cleaning up the flocking, removing the tears and worn spots, straightening it up and making it square and all of these changes and modifications are strictly due to my hard work and make my images anything but rote scans.

I wonder how they can arbitrarily assume that it is a rote scan. The only way I can even see this happening is if one has the actual card right in front of them and can verify that the image is 100% positively the same as the original image. Which of course, it never will be because with time and age and the type of paper the graphic changes. With tears and wear, pieces need to be recreated in order to fill in the missing spots. All of this requires judgement calls and decisions on how best to fill in the space and some creativeness to figure it all out.

In my opinion, if they don't have the card, they can't even begin to make the claim that it is a rote scan. Maybe a simpler option might be contacting the owner of the image and simply asking if it's ok to use it. And if the owner says no, then go shopping, look for the card, purchase it, check out the copyright, scan it yourself and use your own image. Any of these options would be better than just assuming that it's ok to use something that's not yours.

The reselling of images produced and created by someone else can be a copyright violation. If this company wants to sell images then they should darn well make sure that what they are using is approved by the creator of the image. Or they need to get their butt off of their chairs, purchase the original card, check out the copyright, and then scan and create their own images to use versus "borrowing" them from someone else. I can produce the card that was the starting point for my images. I wonder if they can do the same? My guess is probably not!

What does this practice say about the honesty and integrity of the company. I sure don't think that I would buy something from them - the trust factor sure wouldn't be there for me.

Now comes my dilemma, what do I do? I've always said that my primary goal is to share these gorgeous images with the world and in a sense this expands the sharing. My sis always tells me that I share too much... lol But I'm not in this to make tons of money. I'm the happiest when I get to share, make a little money so that I can buy more scrapbooks (lol) and put a smile on someone's face because the image brings back a memory or tickles a sweet spot. But I also find it really upsetting when someone feels they are above the law and can do whatever they want. So I really am torn on this issue. What would you do?

Ok, I'm done, sorry I just really had to vent for a while.

I would love to share with you two of the Valentine cards that I made this year. I keep practicing my skill and hope that someday I will really turn out a WHOA-SHER!. But anyway I'll keep trying... lol Sorry for the blurry pictures... lol

Free Vintage Valentine Image

Hi Everyone,
Burr! Is it cold! I guess I shouldn't complain because we've had a very easy winter so far. This past week, we celebrated my daughter's birthday and it seems like every year Mother Nature saves the best (NOT!) weather for her birthday. The biggest snow storm of the year always shows up right on or very near her birthday. Well this year, we got our storm again but it was only a light dusting. Yipee! I'm always a last minute present buyer and I didn't have to worry about trudging through the snow this year. What a relief!

Do you have your Valentines all finished? As usual, I'm rushing to finish mine. Are you in the same boat? If so, here's a cutie image that might help you out. Make sure you click on it before you save it.

I used this image to create my son's card. I had to get it mailed off to Afghanistan so it was my first Valentine for the year. I kind of like the way it turned out. I wish had used something other than red card stock as my base and it is kind of girly for a guy but what the hay! Valentine's is supposed to be mushy and gushy right? It has lots of layers and I made cupid and the heart and flowers dimensional. Then I added lots of hearts and sparkles - which of course doesn't really show in the pic.

It really is the same image even though the colors on the completed card look different. Maybe one of these days, I'll learn how to work the camera. lmbo

Well gotta rush, I have to get working on my other cards for Valentine's Day.

Help Me Please! and Free Vintage Military Valentine Card

Hi Everyone,

I hope all is well for you. A huge welcome goes out to my new friends! Glad to see yah and I hope you come back often!

The weather here has been just absolutely gorgeous. I can't believe how lucky we've been this year. Illinois weather is usually pretty yucky but we've been very blessed this winter. Thank you Lord!

My DFIL was an avid collector of things. He loved going to estate sales, flea markets, auctions, garage sales or whatever kind of place he could find. He would pick through the trinkets and find stuff that he liked and if he picked it up for a song and a dance, out the door it went with him. His dream was to have enough stuff to fill up a trailer and travel around the US selling and trading his stuff. Sadly, he was never able to actually complete his dream and now we are left with all of his stuff. I'm not sure we have the same dream as his. Yes, we'd love to be able to travel around the country and visit tons and tons of different places, but I'm not sure setting out and then picking up all that stuff sounds like fun. lol

But anyway with that knowledge in hand, I'd like to share this pic with you. It is one of dad's finds that was buried in his "little" shed waiting for him to pack it in a trailer and find it a new home. When we ran across it, I was intrigued by it and I guess I still am. The frame is definitely very old. But I can't decide whether the picture is as old as the frame or not. I can't see the artist name on it, the frame hides the bottom part of the painting(?). I haven't wanted to take it all apart and check it out, I'm so afraid I'd mess something up. But I can feel the back of the paper and it does feel like it might be a canvas. It is definitely a hand painted image because you can see the brush strokes but you can't feel them. In fact the front of it is very smooth almost like it is on a laminate board but it is definitely paper. So I'm totally confused. I'm thinking about having an appraisal done but I'm worried I'll pay huge bucks for the appraisal and find out that she's a poster that was printed in 1990 and put into a vintage frame. lol... What do you think? Have you ever seen this painting anywhere? Click on her for an up close view.

I'm thinking it's supposed to be Cleopatra but looking at just the face it reminds me a lot of some of the masters paintings of the Virgin Mary. But, I know no one in their right mind would paint an image like this of the Virgin Mary.. lol

Oh also, it's huge! The inside frame is 19 1/2" x 25 1/2 inches and the width of the frame adds another 6 1/2" to all sides. Like I said, HUGE!

Anyway, I think it's absolutely gorgeous. The whole thing is very intriguing to me and if you have any info or advice to share, I'd love to hear from you.

I wonder how many different renditions there are to this little ditty? I bet thousands.... which ones do you remember?

Boy, that sure is a heavy subject for a rainy Sunday afternoon. lol

Jester Thank You and Free Vintage Image

Hi Everyone
How's your January going? I can't believe we're in the middle of the month already! Time sure does fly. I had such high hopes for January. I was going to accomplish so MUCH! Lol I have been able to get a couple of the things on my list finished but still have way to much left for me to complete them all. I'll continue to plod along.

I thought I'd share an image this week. I've been thinking about starting on my Valentine's cards for the grandkids. So I've been reviewing what I have scanned and I ran across this little jester. I thought he was so cute. I needed to make a couple of thank you cards and the sentiment Jester to Thank You came to mind. How perfect! So here's my card.

I wanted him to be bright and cheery with a little whimsy. Do you think I accomplished that? He's definitely bright! lol There's lots of layers and I popped up the sentiment and the jester. I kind of like the results.

New Year's Wisdom - maybe - and a huge Cut Out Sale

Hello my blogging friends!
Did you have a great Christmas and New Years? I sure hope so! I know I'm probably the last person in the blogging world to ask that question. All the good bloggers have completed their posts - probably on New Year's Day - and here it is the 6th of January and I'm just getting around to it. Better late than never, I guess. lol

I've been procrastinating, primary because I wanted to come up with some bit of wisdom or some kind of a great insight to post. But here I sit, still waiting for the light blub to come on - I think it must be burned out. lol

As I sit here and reflect on the activities of the last 2 weeks, I can't help but dwell on all the changes that have occurred this past year. The passing of dad, mom's bout with the UTI, the sisters losing their minds and the legal mess they've created, what a disaster! The new year just has to better, I sure don't know how it could be any worse.

I love sharing little snapshots of my family with you and of course today isn't any different. Just a couple of Christmas pics....

I love it when I get to see your projects that are created using my vintage images. It really lifts my spirit, knowing that others love these gorgeous images and are out there creating these special keepsakes. I can't help but feel that the individual who collected the cards and so lovingly put them in scrapbooks is up in heaven smiling down on us. It just gives me a warm cozy feeling. And with that, I'd like to share a project completed by the sweet Bennie Harman. How surprised I was when I received this sweet little tag in the mail. Thanks for sharing Bennie! I wish my camera took better pics... it looks so much better in real life!

Merry Christmas and a Free Vintage Christmas Image

Well here we are, Christmas is almost upon us. Are you ready? I'm sure a lot of you are saying YUP! Plus a lot are owning up to having the presents all wrapped and either under the tree or ready to be put there. I hate you! lol

By now, you can probably guess that I'm not ready. Today is going to be one very busy day, I still have some key people that I need to shop for and boy do I hate having to fight the masses. But the ole chin is up, the shoulder pads are on and I'm ready to head off for my adventure. Pray for me.... lol

Have a very Merry Christmas and for those that need a last minute card.... here's a sweet cut out that I used to create my cards for the grandkids. I only used two dimensions because I was mailing them. But with the extra Santa, you could add a third dimension and bring him out even more. I used red and green card stock and just nestled Santa in front of the fireplace. I was in such a rush to get them mailed that I forgot to take a picture of it... figures right... lol Other than the fussy cutting which took about 10 minutes the card went together very quickly and I loved the end result. So here you go.... a quick last minute card that I'm sure will delight the receiver. Make sure you click on the image before you save it.

New Cut Outs Announcement and Free Vintage Santa Image

Hi Everyone,
I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and that you're at least on the way to Christmas. Do you have your tree up yet? We don't, that's an activity that we like to complete on Thanksgiving weekend, but all of our decorations are at our house so they have to be picked up and brought out to DMIL's. That's happening now, so maybe tomorrow we'll be able to complete the tree.

It's been so busy around here the last couple of weeks and I have tons to tell and share. Last weekend, we decided we would try and take care of some of the leaves around here. And you know kids and leaves, well, I just can't resist sharing my Where's Kaiden photo. lol

The Internet connection at our house has been totally unstable for a month or so. Then we found out they were upgrading all the equipment and that new modems had to be installed in order to be compatible. No wonder, I had a devil of a time keeping the ftp and web server up. LOL.... So anyway, since we're at DMIL's it didn't really make any sense to keep the connection up at home. So instead, I got busy and did my research and wound up putting both of them up on the net. It costs me a little bit to rent the disk space and pay for the hosting, but honestly, it's not as much as a broadband internet connection and they have the worry of keeping the hardware up and running. I think that's well worth the few bucks a month that they're charging me. A Christmas present to myself... lol So the web site is totally updated and available to the world. YAHOO!

It's been a busy crafting week. Jordan and I made stars from paper rolls last weekend. We had a great time and really enjoyed spending the quality time together. She is my little crafting buddy and I think she enjoys the time as much as grammy does. lol I was really bummed to find out the batteries were dead in my camera so I don't have any pictures to share, but she was totally into it and as serious as could be while she was working on her stars. Jordan took her very best one home to put on her tree and I didn't get a pic of it, but here's one she decorated with a candy cane.

Thanks so much for the idea DeeDee . I had the rolls all cut and glued together so all we had to do was paint and decorate to heart's content. Jordan had a blast!

I'm really kind of bummed because I like to have new cut outs and CD's for the Christmas season, this year has been such a downer that I really haven't accomplished a whole heck of a lot. But this week, I focused on creating a couple of new cut outs that are available in the stores. Christmas Collection #4 and #5 are from scrapbooks that haven't been published on a CD yet. What do you think?

I'm really loving the Santa's. In fact, I stayed up really late a couple of nights just to try my hand at a couple of Christmas cards - see I told you I was in the crafting mood lol.

Free Vintage Turkey Image and Luminary Project

Hi Everyone!

How have you all been? Are you busy creating or just wishing you had the time to spend on creating? It seems like this time of year the bug grabs a hold of me and I really feel the need! The weather here has been cloudy and rainy and chilly so its perfect for just staying in and keeping cozy warm.

Anyhow, as I was meandering around different blogs I ran across a really cute idea and tut on making luminaries from recycled boxes - sure wish I'd save the link but hind site is always better than foresight lol.

You know the reuse/recycle kind of stuff that my dear friend DeeDee does. She's always so cleaver! I used a brownie box and a mac and cheese box. You basically, very carefully, take the box apart so you can turn it inside out which gives you the blank chip board to work with. The tut showed how to take a piece of paper that is the correct size for the face of the box. Fold it in fourths and then cut a design for the face of the box, kind of like making the paper snowflakes. Trace the pattern on the box and cut it out using an Exacto knife or scissors.

It would probably be wise to have a basic idea of what image you're going to use for the luminary so that the cut out will be big enough to properly display the image. Now you need to think of how you're going to light it up. Of course real candles are a nono, but the little LED lights that are everywhere would work wonderful. I elected to use little battery operated tea lights. I liked the way they flicker and give the feel of a real candle. Once, you decide how you're going to provide the light, cut a hole in the back of the box that will be big enough to allow the lighting source to be put in the box but not so big that it will let a lot of the light escape.

Now it's ready to be decorated. I choose to use acrylic paints but inks, charcoal or markers could be used to dress up the box. Once decorated, it's time to put the box back together. I found this to be the hardest part because the edges kept pulling themselves apart. I was using tacky glue and a glue gun would probably have been better but I didn't have mine so tacky it was. After about the third try, I decided to try and hold it together with rubber bands and put a weight in the box to help hold down the edges. This worked wonderfully and the edges finally sealed.

Oh one other thing, because of the size of the boxes I used, I needed 3 of the little tea lights in the box in order to have enough light shining through. All in all, it was a fun project and I intend to make some with a Christmas theme, It's easy enough that the grandkids can make some also. But I think I'm going to try something a little bit different. Maybe I'll be able to try it and let you know the outcome with my next post.

Now don't laugh... lol Here's my experimental luminaries...

Ok, enough of that. Is it too late for another Thanksgiving image. I know I'm cutting it close for my Military families, but maybe you can still use it for this year. This is another card from my Provencher collection. It was originally a Christmas card, but I associate Turkey's more with Thanksgiving than Christmas. Our traditional Christmas dinner is Lasagna - so much easier than a turkey and it can be made ahead of time :)

The Pumpkin Patch and Free Vintage Military Thanksgiving Image

Hi Everybody!

The weekend is here! Hip Hip Horrah! Not that weekends make a lot of difference to us, but I know there are a lot of you out there that really enjoy them because you don't have to work and boy do I remember those days! lol

So do you have any big plans for the weekend? There's not much planned here. I think it will be a lazy weekend, next week should prove to be quite full so we kind of want to save our energy.

Last weekend, we decided we'd attend a Pumpkin festival in a little town about an hour away from here. Arthur, Illinois is an Amish community. As we pass by their neat little houses, I stare with envy at their gardens. Each one of them was lush and beautiful even at this time of year. I've always wanted to be a good gardener, but never succeeded at it. I think I get inpatient and bored with it. I've always been in a fast paced world and being patient and watching a plant grow just doesn't work for me. So, I guess I'll continue to stare in disbelief and wonderment at their gardens.

The kids got a huge kick out of seeing the horse and buggies traveling down the highway. It was quite unusual for them and very interesting. I thought about taking a picture of one of the buggies but I've heard the Amish don't like that. I can understand their point of view. They're not an oddity just a people with a different type of life style. It would be kind of like someone taking pictures of me or you because we're wearing say a tie-died tee-shirt. I think I would be irrated after awhile.

The day was gorgeous although the wind did pick up in the afternoon and made it just a little bit chilly. Everyone had a good time, when we left, our little wagon was full of pumpkins and our belly's full of wonderful food.

We had plenty of picture opportunities throughout the day. This is an ark filled with two of every kind of squash and pumpkin that is grown at the pumpkin patch.

We had such a good time, that we're going to add this to our list of "Fall Must Do's" next year.

One of these days in the very near future, I'm going to have to spend an afternoon at home so I can get the web shop all updated with the new items... lol It's been really hard to gather enough free time together in order to spend the time at our house doing this.

Halloween is just around the corner. I love seeing all the kids dressed up and trick or treating - what fun! If you've been following my blog for a while you know that I always lament on the small number of Halloween cards that I have - so few (sigh) not even enough to create a cut out for you. My whole collection of Halloween cards is up to 3. I keep thinking that one of these days I'll hit pay dirt! lol Until then, I'll share my little collection with you. Collection of Cuties Vol 2 and Christmas Vol 14 New Releases

Hi Everyone,
I'm supposed to be paying the bills but guess I'm blogging instead.. lol

Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know that I was finally able to complete a couple of new CD's. Are you surprised? I've been working on them forever it seems. With Dad being so ill, there wasn't a lot of time to finish them up. But now, they're all done and believe it or not they're even posted on Etsy and ebay.

So what are they? Well, Christmas Vol 14 has tons of great images. It has a bit more Santa and Snowmen images than what's usually on one of my Christmas CD's but it has a good mix of other Christmas images as well. I'm particularly fond of the Cowboy Santa, I think he is so unusual, what do you think?

And I love this Snowman Santa. How could you make a better image than using both of my loves! lol

Hi Everyone!

I'd like to thank everyone for the sweet comments left on the tribute to Dad. You'll never know how much your comments lifted out spirits and helped us through a very tough time. Thank you so much!

Are you getting into the fall mode? I'm having a really hard time with it because it seems like summer hasn't even shown its head here. I guess that's because we were so busy that we really didn't get to participate in the normal summer activities. Cookouts and swimming and short trips and enjoying the grandkids during their summer break was almost totally absent from our schedule. :(

But a few good things did occur. :) We were able to squeeze in some time with my family. We were successful in getting DMIL out of the nursing home and the grandkids did get to spend the night a couple of times. As we get our schedule squared away and the estate moving along and the guardianship for DMIL finished, things should come back to somewhat normal.

My dear sweet Trevor is home on leave from Afghanistan for three whole weeks. And guess what? I haven't fixed him a good ole mom's home cooked meal yet and I asked him what he would like. Well you know what he said..... a turkey with all the fixin's. He said he won't be home for Thanksgiving and he would really like to have it early. So tomorrow night, we're having Thanksgiving. What a hoot! Have you ever tried to find a huge wompin turkey in September? Well, I think you can kind of forget it! I found 2 - 10 pounder's which are going to have to do. Guess that's pretty good... double the drumsticks.. lol But anyway, Turkey and dressing, baked beans, mashed taters and cranberries and apple salad with pumpkin pie and devil's food cake with homemade butter cream icing are all on the menu. Are you getting hungry yet? lol Anyway, I'll be very busy tomorrow with all the cooking. Thankfully it's cool outside so I won't die from over heating! lol

So in the spirit of our early Thanksgiving dinner, I thought I'd share a Thanksgiving image with you. This image is from the Provencher album. I think I've talked about it before. It's the album that was supposed to have Halloween images in it and all it had was one. But it did make up for that with tons of military images that I do intend to share with you in the near future. A Tribute to Everett D. Daily

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I've been away for so long.My dear sweet father-in-law passed last Wednesday at 12:50 pm. I feel compelled to write a tribute to him but must confess that I'm really having a hard time doing that. What can I say about this dear sweet man to help you understand how special he was?

He was a big burly man, strong as an ox with a size 20 ring finger and wearing EEEEE width shoes. I think I've told the story before about how he used to get his beers paid for by betting that he could bend a quarter with his fingers.. a true story and Dad won lots and lots of beers on this bet. But he was gentle of heart and specially caring for the ones he loved.

Although he could never bring himself to come out and tell you that he loved you, he was very free with his gestures of love. I witnessed him holding Mom's hand so gently, like he was afraid he'd break it. I've seen him cup his son's face in those huge hands when both of them were suffering from the physical as well as emotional pain of the situation. I saw him shed tears of sorrow over the rift between him and his daughters. And I'll never forget the pats on the head, and squeezes of the hand and the phone call checks when I'd finally leave late at night and head home to take care of our animals and house.

For the last 3 weeks of his life, I stayed 24/7 at Dad's house to help my hubby take care of him and mom. I saw the glint in eyes fade away, I saw how the cancer and his daughters robbed his body and his spirit away from him, I saw how his main concern was mom and that she would be taken care of. I saw him so painfully and slowly give up and decide that it was too hard to continue.

I was fortunate to be with him when he passed. I rubbed his head and gave him a kiss and a squeeze of the hand and his nurse rubbed his head and he ended his journey. So peaceful, so quite, just like the dear sweet man that he was.

We love you and miss you terribly Dad! Thank you so much for being there, for teaching us those ever important life lessons, for supporting everything that we did, for loving us and most importantly for just being our dad and a grandfather to our children and a Greatpapa to Jordan and Kaiden. We all love you and miss you terribly.

Craft Us Crazy Challenge and Free Vintage Christmas Image

Hi Everyone!

How's your summer going? It's speeding by from my point of view. We have been so busy that it doesn't seem that we've had the time to enjoy it. DFI is doing better, he is getting a little stronger everyday. He felt well enough that we were able to take him to 2 different firework displays over the holiday. He really seemed to enjoy them. My camera has a fireworks setting on it so I thought I'd take some pics to share with Trevor. I don't think I took them correctly because of the way they look, but I really like them anyway... lol I'm not sure how they celebrated the 4th in Afghanistan but I bet they didn't have fireworks.

Here's DFI, all bundled up against the night air, enjoying the fireworks.

It brought us great joy to be able to help him participate just a little in the festivities.

DMI is still in the re-hab center. She's supposed to be finished with her antibiotic on the 11th and we're sure hoping she'll be able to come home. DFI is anxiously awaiting her return. After 62 years, it is really hard for him to be separated from her and we can't wait for them to be together again.

We have 2 birthdays to celebrate during the 4th's festivities. Trevor's, on the 2nd and my hubby's on the 4th. We really missed celebrating Trev's Birthday but we thought about him a lot. For Larry's, we had a mini pool party with a great cookout and of course the traditional fireworks display as a conclusion to the day. We don't usually do cake in the living room but we wanted DFI to be able to sing him Happy Birthday so we took the festivities to him so he could participate. DFIL is not in this pic but he's sitting in a chair to the right and isn't Jordan just the sweetest - all engrossed in PaPa's birthday. Jordan made and decorated PaPa's cake for him. She did a great job! All in all, it was a good day and everyone had a great time.

Free Vintage Image and Father's Day

Hi Everybody,
Happy Sunday to you! I hope you have had a great week!

Are you still working on your Father's Day Cards. I'd thought I'd share a little more about my Daddy. He loved sports, especially baseball, golfing, bowling and fishing. He was an avid Cardinal's fan and I can remember as a child sitting on the front porch and listening to Harry Carey announcing the Cardinal game on the radio. This was a regular event with our family, sometimes we just couldn't sit still but there was always Red Rover, Red Rover and Simon Says with Harry as background noise.

As a child, I don't remember Daddy doing a lot of fishing. This seemed to be something he took up later in life. But he thoroughly enjoyed it. He would take a yearly fishing trip with his buddies. They'd rent a house boat and spend a few days fishing, drinking beer and playing poker. Sounds like a perfect man holiday! lol Here he is on one of these trips.

Free Father's Day Image

Hi Everyone!
It feels like it's been ages since I last posted. Things are back to being pretty crazy around here. Have you ever heard the phrase when it rains it pours! Well that's what it has been like around here. It seems like we get one crisis taken care of and another one pops up. It is getting very frustrating. Anyway, put some smiles out there for me... I really could use them. :)

I was hoping to have some new cut outs just for Father's Day, but I don't really have any hope of accomplishing that, instead I'll try and share a few of the images with you.

So for now, I thought I'd start with just an easy chair. Does or did your Dad have a favorite chair? Mine did. I can remember him setting in an orange chair very similar to this one. Wearing slippers very similar to these and smoking his pipe and reading the newspaper. I always loved the smell of his pipe tobacco. Although Dad's been gone for 19 years, if I close my eyes, I can still sometimes smell his pipe tobacco.

This is my Daddy in his favorite chair, no pipe in hand but the ash tray is there and the paper is tucked in the side of the chair. I can't tell if he has his slippers on but it kind of looks like he did.

Free Vintage Image and Just a little blurb

Hi Everyone,
How's your week been? Great I hope. It's been a little easier around here. DFIL is out of the hospital for now. The poor guy was getting so depressed because they kept promising him in two days, in two days, and the two days didn't ever seen to come. Last Friday, they told him two more days and he said enough and that he was going home, so we packed up his stuff and brought him home. It's a little scary for us, as his primary care givers, it's a lot of responsibility. But we're learning and handling the situation as best we can. He is so much happier and believe it or not he is getting stronger every day. I'm sure your prayers have played a major role in his improvements and I/we appreciate everyone of them. So a big thank you to you and some super tight hugs to go along with the thanks.

I'm slowly getting set up so I can keep the shops running while at the in-laws. They're not really in the technological era... lol but I'm handling everything, maybe just a little slower... lol... but it seems to be working out. Thanks again for all the patience during this time.

A Small Challenge, New Cut Outs and a Free Vintage Image

Hi Everyone,
How's everyone doing? DFIL is still in the hospital and things around here are still absolutely crazy. I apologize for not visiting all my blogging friends and for not keeping up with everyone. I really appreciate your patience and hope that you'll bear with me during this time.

Do you believe in fate? You know the kind where you stumble onto something just by chance? I do, it seems like sometimes there's just not an explanation for why something occurred and how you happened upon it but somehow the outcome always seems to be better than expected. For example, a while back as I working with my ebay store, I ran across a posting for a vintage scrapbook. Now, hopefully you all know that I love vintage scrapbooks... lol But anyway, I wasn't really shopping for a scrapbook, ebay just presented me with the listing. The description caught my eye because it said the scrapbook had Halloween cards in it. I'm always watching out for Halloween cards because they are few and far between in the scrapbooks. Anyway, I won the bid and anxiously waited for it to arrive.

I was super delighted when it did arrive because it was huge, just chock full of cards. So I devoured each and every page, just hunting for those Halloween cards. As I turned each page, I quickly noticed that there were tons of vintage military cards, every other page seemed to have one, Birthday, Easter, Christmas, St. Patrick's Day, Thanksgiving, Valentines.... you name it there was a military card for it. As my mouth continued to drool, I'm thinking wow, there has to be some great Halloween cards here and I continued to check out each and every card...

Well to make a long story short, way in the very back of the scrapbook, I found one little Halloween card. It's really hard to say I'm disappointed, because now I have all these great military cards that I can use to create some great stuff for Trevor while he's deployed but I sure didn't expand my Halloween collection by much... lol

So what do you think..... was fate playing a role? I sure think so!

Anyway, now I have tons of military cards that I'll be able to share with you as soon as I have time to get them scanned and cleaned up a bit. I'll probably create some cut outs, it's so much faster to only have to get six or seven images finished and listed than it is to get a few hundred done... lol

Have you seen the three new cut outs that I listed just a while back. I had a buyer who was looking for some "new" images so I was able to squeeze in three new cut outs in the Cutie line. They're available in all the stores.

Now, for some other fun stuff.... As I was searching my "new" military scrapbook, I ran across this card. Isn't it just a hoot!!!!! And, no, I didn't Photo Shop it, it's the real thing!!! lol

I haven't had any challenges for a while and I was thinking that this would be a good card to have a little fun with. So, the challenge is to come up with a really great sentiment for this card. You don't have to make a card or anything, just come up with a sentiment and it doesn't have to be Christmas related. Post your sentiment in the comments area by May 12 at midnight CST and make sure I have a way to contact you. The best sentiment will receive their choice of any 5 Cut Out sets or 1 CD. So get your thinking caps on and see what you can come up with.

Trev's birthday is in July so I'm thinking about his Birthday card. I've got to get in the habit of thinking of holidays early for him because God only knows how long it will take mail to get to him. Curve Inn Trevor's Deployment Party and Farewell Ceremony

Hi All!
I hope you had a great Easter! I apologize for being a little AWOL the last couple of weeks. It has been absolutely crazy around here. I think we were meeting ourselves coming and going. My DFIL is still in the hospital. The poor guy is really having a tough go of it. And poor DMIL has Alzheimer's and is having a terrible time with all the changes and uncertain schedules. So, if you have any stray prayers out there, they sure could use them.

Trevor has started his deployment. He's off to El Paso, Texas to go through the final checks with the Army and then he's off to Afghanistan. I'm missing him already and I have to share some proud momma pictures from the last two weeks activities with him. So please bear with... lol

Thanks to the Curve Inn for throwing the party for him. They created some really cool banners.

Trevor had a great time and the Curve Inn gets lots and lots of Kudos for doing this for him.

The Army had a Farewell Ceremony for his Unit at the Decatur Conference Center where a couple of key note speakers thanked them for their service and wished them God Speed and Good Luck. It was very nice and provided a nice memory for the soldiers to take with them.

Trevor had purchased a camo outfit for Kaiden on his last trip to Fort McCoy. Only thing was, he got a size 8 outfit. Now Kaiden is only in a 4T so needless to say it didn't quite fit him. lol With a few strategically placed safety pins, Jordan was able to wear it along with her present which was a "I love my soldier" hat. She looked very cute in her outfit and was a little embarrassed by all the attention she got because of it.

After the ceremony we went up and visited by DFIL and then met up with Trevor at his base where we waited for them to board their buses and head to the Saint Louis Lambert Airport for their departure. Only thing was, a tornado beat them to it and of course the airport was closed and all flights were canceled. Their commanders had to do some fast scrambling and wound up chartering them flights out of Springfield. Yahoo! I was going to be able to see them off. Originally, they were supposed to leave their base at 2:00 AM to catch their flights and by 4 AM they had all the alternative plans pretty much in place. Some pretty impressive planning if I must say so myself. So anyway, we headed for home at about 4 AM. We were all dog tired and ready for bed.

Trevor called at about 1:30PM and let us know that he was at the airport. So off I went to see my baby take flight. It took them about a 1/2 hour to get all their stuff loaded into the plane and the boarding completed.

And then in a blink of an eye, they were off, taxing down the runway.

A Memory Book and a Free Vintage Image

Hi Everyone!
How's your week going? It's been a little hectic around here this week. My DFI is back in the hospital. Hopefully, it will only be a short stay this time but it puts a kink in our normal schedule.

Trevor has returned from his Fort McCoy stay. He has just a little over 2 weeks before he deploys to Afghanistan. Saturday, he's having a little gathering for all his friends at a local tavern. I'm sure it will be an interesting event. lol

I decided that I'd make him a little memory book to take with him. I'm hoping that when he gets homesick, it will bring him a little comfort. I thought I'd make it in the same way I did the kid's Disney memory books, except this time I didn't leave the pockets between the pages. With the zigzag format I thought he could set it up somewhere, a shelf, a trunk, or even a bucket. I also made a little box that he could store it in. Anyway, I'm really happy with the results and I hope that he likes it.

I'm really enjoying making these little memory books. I think I'll have to make a few for Christmas presents.. lol

Spring is showing its head around here. I noticed today that the Ornamental Pear tree has blossoms and the Lilacs are waking up. We don't have any Cherry blossoms yet. I'm looking forward to seeing them, because we usually have our last frost when they're open and I'm so ready for the cold, gloomy weather to go away.

Do you have a favorite spring flower? I must say that Jonquils, Lilacs and Pansies are my favorites. I thought I'd share a pretty Pansy image with you today. They always seem to be so bright and cheery to me. I think they're always good for a smile. :) Make sure you click on it before you save it.

Happy Wednesday! I really enjoyed reading about everyone's favorite TV shows. I'll definitely have to check out some new ones! lol Thanks so much for the wonderful comments. They really make my day!

Free Military Easter Image

Hi All,
Have you had a great week? It's been really busy here - lots and lots of stuff going on. My youngest is starting his journey to Afghanistan. Right now he's in pre-deployment mode. He's spending 3 weeks at Fort McCoy getting his soldiers ready to go. I'm really going to miss him when he ships out.

Have you watched that new series Coming Home on TLC? It's so nice that such special events are happening for the returning soldiers. Sunday night is definitely my TLC night between Coming Home and Army Wives, I'm glued to the tube! My other must sees are Good Wife, Parenthood, House and American Idol. What shows are your must sees?

Any way, back to Trev, he'll be leaving for Afghanistan before Easter. The holidays will seem a little less festive without him being here. :(

Happy St. Patty's Day and Free Vintage Image

Hi Everybody,
Happy Saint Patty's Day! Are you wearin' the green?
We attended the local St. Patty's Day Parade on Saturday. Jordan and Kaiden both wore their green. We made special tee-shirts for the day using some free clip art we found on the Internet. Jordan had a green pixie and Kaiden's was a cute puppy with a hat and bow tie. I think they turned out really cute and the kids seemed to really like them.

It is so easy to do this! If you haven't tried a project using the fabric transfers kits, you really should. It took longer to find and select the clip art than it did to make the tee-shirts. lol

Of course the parade had lots and lots of revelry going on, particularly around the taverns. I just couldn't figure it out, maybe it was the green beer! lol

The parade had several bag pipe bands/groups or whatever they're called. They were awesome and really brought the Irish spirit to the crowd.

The kids had a great time. They enjoyed all the entrants and collected lots of candy. It was so chilly that halfway through the parade we had to take a hot chocolate break and warm up.

Tonight we visited one of our local Irish Pubs and had some awesome corned beef and cabbage and wee bit of green beer, a nice finish to St. Patty's Day.

One of the things I love about my scrapbooks are the unusual cards that I run across. This is one of my favorites, I hope that it will be one of yours as well. As usual, make sure you click on it before you save it.

Yellow Ribbon, New Easter Cut Outs, PLV Sponsorships

Hi Everyone!
I sure hope you're having a great week! Can you believe it? This weekend time changes... you know the ole spring forward fall back thingy. I know spring is coming but it sure doesn't feel that way around here.. cloudy and rainy seems to be the only path we're following. lol I have a lot to post today so I guess I should be moving along.

It's been a really busy week around here. This past weekend we were lucky enough to participate in a Yellow Ribbon Conference in Saint Louis Missouri. This particular conference was hosted by the United States Army Reserves. You see, my youngest is once again on track to spend a year in Afghanistan, he leaves next month. The last time he toured he was a Marine - woops.. isn't that once a Marine always a Marine! But anyhow, for this tour it's Army all the way.

The Yellow Ribbon event is somewhat new and I think it was instituted under President Obama.. but don't quote me on that cos I'm not sure. It is an event that is packed full of helpful information for the troops and their families. The sessions are geared more toward spouses and partners vs. moms and dads but we still gained a lot of information on some valuable resources. Hopefully, we'll never have to use them, but at least we know they are there and available to us if we need them.

They hosted us at the Sheraton in the West Port Plaza. We were lucky enough to get rooms in what they call the chalet. This suited us just perfectly because it has more of an old world feel vs the newer modern version. The hotel was packed full of huge furniture and lots and lots of marble. The food was okay nothing really to brag about but it was filling and there was plenty. All in all, it was a very nice weekend on the Army's dime.

I worry about the young Army families. How hard it must be! We saw several couples with really young children. I can't imagine having to spend that much time away. The good thing is that with all the technology, they'll be able to communicate regularly and at least talk over Skype where they can see other, but still it has to be extremely hard. I thank them for all their sacrifices and pray that they all return safely.

Free Vintage Image and Finished Autograph Book

Hi Everyone,
I hope you're having a great week!

It's been pretty busy around here this week. I did manage to finish the memories side of Jordan's autograph book. It held up pretty good during its week in Disney. A couple of beads came loose and had to be replaced and a ribbon re-glued but other than that it was in pretty good shape considering a 6 year carried it around all week. lol

It seemed like it took me forever to finish the memories side. In fact, I just managed to finish it an hour before I was supposed to give it to her. I did quickly snap some pictures, but I didn't look at them until after I gave her the book. The pics turned out terrible! I must have had something set wrong on the camera - Murphy's law of course! :) But terrible or not I thought I'd share just a couple of the completed layouts.

The kids took a ton of pictures, so I had a great selection to pick from. I tried to select the pictures of the characters when they were signing or holding the autograph book. I'm told they held up the lines pretty good because the characters were having fun looking at the book. They even got a picture of Daisy kissing Donald's autograph page. I'm sure this made Jordan and Kaiden feel extra special but it probably didn't please the people waiting for their turn. lol

For the last page of the book, I wanted to create a little memories collage. I wanted it to show a lot of the different and funny things that they did. I used the little letter beads to spell out Memories, Thanks, and Mommy and Daddy. Jordan really liked this page and got a big kick out of looking at all the different pics. This is where I really wished the page was bigger, so that I could have included more pictures.

Here's a pic of the actual collage. See, it really is better than my pictures of the completed project. :) I love all the guys (Dad, Grandpa, Kaiden and Uncle Brian) wearing Jordan's tiara. What a special memory!

So, if I was going to make another one, what would I do differently? I think I'd make the pages a little bigger so there would be more room for the layouts on the autograph side and the picture side. And, I would change the folds between the pages, maybe making it a double fold. I still don't think I'd use the rings or the spirals because I still like the idea of the pages being side by side and back to back. But, a little extra width is needed on the folds especially for the pages that have embellies that are placed close to the fold edge - if that makes any sense.

Now I just have Kaiden's to finish but I have to wait for the arrival of a new supply of printer ink.

I debated for a while on what kind of image to share with you this week and as I was browsing my Miscellaneous folder I ran across this card. I'm kind of partial to poppies and I loved all the colors on it. It originally started with a "Friends with" sentiment but I think it would be really pretty framed. So I removed the sentiment so you could use it for whatever kind of project you'd like. Make sure you click on the image before you save it.

Help!, Business Cards and Incy Wincy Designs Challenge

Hi All!
How's your week going? Great I hope! We're scheduled for another snow storm tonight... only 3 to 6 inches this time but more is scheduled for Saturday and Monday. Geez I'm so tired of snow! I'm sure there are a lot of others out there who have reached their snow quota this winter! Spring can't get here fast enough!

Ok... I'm looking for ideas. Hopefully, you're aware that I use a lot of CD's. ;) As a result, I have a pretty big collection of empty CD containers, most of them 100 CD size. I've been racking my brain to figure out uses for all these, I just hate to throw them away. I've already used them as pencil/pen, scissor and ribbon holders. Which by the way, they're great for the ribbons - it keeps them nice and tidy and free from dust and I can stack them vertically. I did have to star cut some of the center holes because they were too small, but a lot of them fit without cutting.

I suppose you could decorate them if you're so inclined, but I wanted to be sure I could easily see the ribbons on the spool. If you have horizontal space instead of vertical, you could attach the top to the bottom of a self with screws and hang them, like what the guys do in the garage with glass jars for all those loose screws and washers.

Anyway, I'm looking for other ideas for uses. So if you have any, I'd be tickled pink if you'd share.

I used Photo Shop to crop out the image and used the opacity option on the layer and then added the text. It was easy peasy! Once it was all designed, I flattened the layers and saved it as a .jpg. Then, it's really easy to drag the completed layout onto a blank 8.5 x 11 sheet and size it appropriately so that you can fit 8 to a sheet. If anyone is interested in a tutorial, let me know and I'll put one together.

If you can't find an image that you like in the existing Cut Outs, then just send me an email with a description of what you're looking for and I'll try and find something that will work for you.

Are you having a great week? The weather here sure has changed. It's been in the 40's and 50's and it's heading for the 60's - a brief respite and a hint of spring! You sure can't beat that! Only problem now is all the water from the snow. The grounds still frozen, so all that water is puddling everywhere making quite the mess!

Do you celebrate St. Patty's Day? We have some Irish in us, along with a lot of other nationalities and we love to celebrate St. Patty's Day - corned beef and cabbage - yum! When my youngest was born, we thought he looked more Lithuanian then anything else and we wanted him to be able to celebrate the Irish in him - so we named him Trevor Patrick - can't get more Irish then that now can you? Our town has a huge St. Patty's Day parade and we always attend. Here's a pic from last year's parade. Of course, we're showing off our green noses and shamrocks!

We top the day off with supporting one of our most popular Irish restaurants where of course we're forced to have a wee bit of green beer. lol But it's always a good time and we thoroughly enjoy the holiday.

In my collection, St. Patty's Day cards are almost as rare as Halloween cards, but I do have a few. One of my favorites is this little Irish girl. Isn't she just the cutest? Make sure you click on her before you save her.

Free Vintage Image, Valetine Cards and Disney

Hi All!,
Boy you really are out there. I'd like to welcome the new followers and thank everyone for all the love you've left. It's really good to know that you like and hopefully use the images.

The last few days have been really crazy around here. The kids are all off on their Disney Adventure and we're been lucky enough to receive the assignment of dog sitting. Have you ever watched "Animal Hoaders" on the Animal Planet channel? That's what we're kind of feeling like. We definitely have a pack of animals hanging out here for the next 9 days! They're all so skiddish cos they're away from their homes that they bark at the slightest provocation! It's a good thing we live out in the country and have a huge fenced in back yard! Wish me luck!

Have you seen the DT's cards that they made from last week's image? If you haven't, you can visit them by clicking on their names. Donna's , Sherri's , and DeeDee's. If you haven't visited their blogs yet, please take a few moments and check them out! I'm so jealous of their skills! They do an awesome job.

Here's my rendition. I printed the image twice so that I could give him some dimension and then I manually cut them both out. I thought I did a much better job of cutting until I looked closely at the picture. You sure can tell where I missed cutting some of the white card stock! Kaiden will still be in Florida for Valentine's Day :( and I wanted to use some of the left over Mickey paper from his autograph book on his card. I used it to create a little envelope that I filled with candy hearts. I had the hardest time attaching the little balloon hearts to the card. They just didn't want to stay attached. So I finally added a foam spacer between his hands stuck in the wires and added some glue on top. They still weren't attached as well as I would have liked but they'll have to do. I added some red and gold ribbon for some bling, some polka dot hearts and called it done.

Of course, I can't make a card for Kaiden and not make one for Jordan! I didn't really want to use the Bell Boy for her's so I found another sweet little image to use. I followed the same recipe but used her left over Minnie paper from her autograph book instead of the Mickey paper.

I thought they turned out really cute. Maybe if I keep practicing I'll get better. lol

Now, I must digress for just a little bit and turn into the very proud Grandma... please forgive...

Jordan had her Dippity Do appointment today. She selected Cinderella, of course, and of course I have to share the results. Isn't she just the cutest Cinderella ever!

Free Vintage Valentine image

Hi All!
Are you keeping safe and warm? We're part of the huge winter storm tracking its way across the mid-west. We're targeted for 15 to 21" inches of snow. It's supposed to be the biggest storm in 10 years. We still have power which is wonderful because we live in the country and everything, and I do mean everything, runs off of the power. Right now we have a tub full of water, at least we'll be able to flush our toliets! lol. We also have a fireplace which will help keep us warm! I made a huge pot of Navy bean soup yesterday so we can at least eat beans if the power goes. Might even be able to get a little heat from them... lmbo! So, anyway we're all set and ready for all that snow!

Jordan's Disney Autograph and Memories Book

I'm not going to put a lot of verbiage in this post. Kaiden's book has all the mechanics on how I made them so you can check that out here. Jordan's book wound up a little bigger than Kaiden's because of all the Princess' but the size can be adjusted to cover all your important characters.

So now, get busy and create that autograph book. I'm thinking about creating one for the kids for school. Wouldn't it be cute with all their school chums signatures and pictures? Hmmmmmm now the ole mind is racing. lol

Kaiden's Disney Autograph and Memories Book

Hi Everyone!
How's your week been going? Great I hope! I've had a fun week. Last week I told you about the autograph books I was going to make for the Grandkid's trip to Disney. I got the idea from Lauren's Creative blog which you can see here . Well, I was able to get them both finished! I had a great time doing them and I'm totally stoked about how they turned out! I have so many pictures to share that I'm going to do two posts on them. :)

So off we go now on my autograph book adventure..........

I decided I'd connect the pages in a zigzag pattern. I used standard white card stock and cut it in half on the 11 1/2" side.

You could cut it on the 8 1/2" side but I wanted the individual pages to be longer then wide. I then folded the sheets in half.

I wanted each sheet to have a little pocket so I applied the glue in a "U" shape - only along the sides and bottoms of the sheets.

It was pretty easy to do this and line the sheets all up because I was able to slide sheet two into the fold for sheet one. That made it really easy to keep the two sheets apart until I was ready to slide it in place.

This method created a nice little pocket for momentos or additional signature tags or journaling tags.

A back view of the completed zigzag pattern. I left this side blank for now. Once the trip is finished, I plan on using some of the many pictures of the trip to complete this side of the book.

Before I started decorating the sheets, I attached a very long ribbon across the height of the first sheet. I wanted to be sure it would be long enough to tie once both sides of the book are complete.

Oh! One word of caution, before you complete the layouts - when you're creating the zigzag and attaching your folded sheets together make sure you do it so that on the completed zigzag both the front and the back open from the right side. If you start the first half sheet by placing the glue on the inside back and then keep the number of half cards even you should end up correctly. But it sure doesn't hurt to double check to make sure they both open from the right side before you get them all decorated. :)

So now with all the mechanics covered here's the completed layouts for Kaiden's autograph side of the book.

I attached ribbons to the tags to make them easier to pull out of the pockets and I left the back sides of the tags blank so that they could be used for additional signatures or for journaling.

So what do you think? I'm totally pleased with myself! LMBO

Free Vintage Image, Useful Books and Thank You Card

Hi All,
How's everyone doing? Are you having a good week? It's been pretty nasty around here. I caught a terrible cold that literally put me down for a week! The fever and chills are gone but the chest congestion still lingers. I'll be really glad when I'm totally back to normal!

Today I'd like to share an item from one of my favorite Etsy shops Useful Books .

If you've followed my blog for a while, you know that on the card making scale, I probably rank at about a 2. Usually I stick with the one dimensional and create my cards using a lot of cloning and putting different digital elements together. I really enjoy creating my cards this way but every once in a while, I get a little extra energy and decide to try something different. Maybe one of these days, I'll take a trip out to sis and spend a week with her and get all of her secrets. lol But for now, the good ole American try will have to do. I needed a thank you card for a very nice friend of my husband. Since it's for a guy, I didn't want anything frilly or gooey so here's what I decided to use for my card. I printed him three times and then fussy cut him twice so I could give him some dimension. I picked sis' brain for a cute sentiment - she always comes up with the best - and wound up with this......

So, what do you think? It could be better but I'm satisfied. My next project is going to be an autograph book for the grandkids to take to Disney. I really need to get busy on it if I'm going to have them ready. So stay tuned...

Happy New Year and Free Vintage Image

Happy New Year Everyone!
Are you the type to do Resolutions for the New Year? Usually I don't. Primarily because I have a tendency not to complete or meet them. I feel it's kind of like setting myself up for failure - not a very positive attitude huh! lol But this year, I'm going to try and set two goals and see how I fair. Of course, I'm going to try and keep my attitude up and positive.

So what goals am I going to set? First, I'm going to try and improve my writing skills. You see for 30 years I was in a field that required very technical writing. This meant that everything had to be to the point, very straight forward and absolutely, positively no emotion. This type of writing has been burned into my sub-conscious and I struggle to eliminate that requirement when I'm writing my blog or commenting on others. Sometimes it can take me a really long time to complete a new blog entry because of this struggle. So the plan is to practice, practice, practice....and maybe I'll get better at it. So, expect to see a lot more posting from me this year and maybe you all can be my critiques and let me know how I'm doing. Encouraging comments would be greatly appreciated!

Second on my list is to become a little more thick skinned when it comes to criticism's relating to my product line. I love sharing my images and I spend countless hours collecting and cleaning them so that I can share them with you. It is a true labor of love and not intended to be a path to millionaire status. Sorry, I'm digressing and need to back to the point. Anyway, every once in a while I'll encounter a truly nasty person. Someone who just can't be pleased no matter how hard you try. They often like to be abusive and love to throw in a threat or two. I know that it's not my fault that these individuals are that way and I need to just brush it away but it just drives me bonkers! I sit and worry and stew for hours over it. So this year, I'm going to work on letting it go, thickening my skin so to speak and not worrying about it so much. I know there are wonderful people out there who truly appreciate my images and I'm going force myself to appreciate the positives and put less importance on the negatives.

So what do you think? Pretty lofty goals if you ask me but I think I can do it! At least I'm going to actively work toward reaching them and I hope you'll help me out. Your words of encouragement are greatly appreciated and I look forward to hearing from you.

Now to lighten up a little, New Year's is a time for celebration right? Are you doing anything special? We're going to try and get an early dinner, beating the crowd's hopefully, and then maybe go out to my daughter's house for a while or catch a movie. Kind of low key, but we like it. We've never really been the bar hopping types. I guess we're kind of boring but it suits us.

I know a lot of you like to get out there in the hustle and bustle of the crowds and do a little dancing and drinking. So that brings me to the image I'd like to share. This image is from the Janie folder and is circa 1924. As always make sure you click on the image to get it in a larger size.

Christmas Projects and Free Vintage Image

Hi Everyone!

Today I'm being totally lazy..lol. I'm just sitting around reflecting on all the Christmas activities and being thankful that's it's over and yet still basking in all the joy and warmth that occurred during the busy days.

This whole month has been totally crazy with so many unexpected happenings that it truly seemed like everything was going amiss and I was beginning to wonder if Christmas this year was meant to be.

It all started with Hubby's Dad getting sick which was a major blow to all of us. Then the stomach flu started spreading throughout the family with Kaiden being the first lucky recipient. And how lucky am I? He was spending the night at Grandma's when the ugly beast reared his head! lol Then Dad's car completely broke down, with one of the front wheels pointing to the left and the other pointing to the right - makes it kind of hard to drive. lol. Next, Jordan caught a cold and developed Pink eye. Then on Christmas Eve our main toilet thought it might like a vacation. We decided that couldn't be the case and it just had to be fixed. Then Christmas morning, we awoke to the water heater having issues and going on a strike. Oh my gosh, I thought we were never going to make it through the holiday! It has been quite exciting and taxing! But you know what, it still could have been a lot worse!

Even with all this going on, we did manage to get the shopping done, the presents wrapped, a few crafts plus some cookies and chocolate pretzels made, and two major dinners prepared for the family. Whew! What an accomplishment for first 3 weeks of December!

So now that the holiday is over I can share with you some of the crafts that we completed this month.

Every year one of my objectives for November/December is to make ornaments to add to my tree and to share with my loved ones. This year for some reason, it was really difficult for me to decide on what kind of ornament to make. It was really a struggle until I saw this on Julie's blog. The idea hit me that if I expanded on her design and put the wreath on the front and back it would make an awfully pretty Christmas ornament. So I followed Julie's advise and visited here to watch the tutorial. The tutorial was wonderful and after just a few practice ones I had it down pat and was braiding away. lol I think I wound up making about 50 of them but once I got it down pat they went pretty fast. Here's just a few of the creations.

I made a sheet of about 2" medallions and printed it twice. I then cut them out and added some glue to back of one and a hanging ribbon and then I sandwiched the two images together. Being careful to match, as close to possible, the placing of the hanging ribbon on both sides. Then once the braid was complete, I attached it with glue to both sides of the medallions. I added a little bow and some embellies and they were done. On the little kid's ornaments, I used alpha beads to spell out their names and for the older ones I just embellished with things I had on hand. I thought they turned out nice. I really loved the Madonna with the blue ribbon and the deer with the brown ribbon.

A couple of months ago I purchased these from a well known company that sells candles at home parties. I bought a set of 3 different sizes and they were very expensive.

Once I received them, I thought I could basically create the same thing but in a smaller size for a lot less money. So as I was doing my shopping, I kept an eye out for something that I could use to recreate it. I found a vase at the local dollar store that I felt would fit the bill. I then started running across blogs that discussed glass etching. I've always wanted to give that a try so I started investigating the various ways that patterns were transferred to the glass. Most of the samples were using vinyls that were cut using the various cutting machines. But I'm not lucky enough to have one, so I settled with using one of those little pink stencil sets that you find everywhere. I picked a snowflake pattern and then cut the stencil apart for the different snowflakes. I used good old Elmers Spray Adhesive to attach the stencils to the glass and then filled in the stencil with the Amour Etch solution. I waited 5 to 10 minutes, then rinsed it off and washed it really well. After a few uses, the stencils were a little gummy from the glue but they continued to work just fine.

After all of that, I filled them with the scented pine cones and potpourri and sparkly ribbon and this is the completed project.

It's kind of hard to see the snowflakes but they're there if you look really close. I ran out of time and didn't find the votive candle holders that should rest on top, but maybe next year, I'll include that in their Christmas packages. lol But all in all, I was really happy with the finished project and hope to do more etching in the future.

Now sadly, my last project, I didn't get a picture of before it went into the mail. For this project I purchased some flour sack kitchen towels and using fabric transfer sheets, I added some cute borders along the width's edge. In order to get the border to go all the way across I had to have 3 rows on the 11" side of an 8.5 x 11 sheet of fabric transfer paper. So I made sure I picked a patten that had a break that I could easily match up. I picked an image that lent itself well to repeats and I also mirrored image it so that there was more variety in the image. I had planned on adding some cross stitch X's on top and below the image but alas, that was another project that I didn't get to really finish. But I thought they turned out pretty cute even without the cross stitching. So to share, here's one of the images that I used for my pattern on the towels. Christmas Cheer and a Free Vintage Image

Merry Christmas Everyone!
Are you ready? I'm not, but I am getting closer! It's been a very busy week with trying to get ready for Christmas and trying to help my DFIL and DMIL.

My DFIL is out of the hospital now but he has a huge climb ahead of him. And truthfully, at 82 years of age, I'm really worried about it. We haven't found a specialist yet but we're working on it. One place told us that they won't take his case because he's on Medicare and they already have a waiting list! Now how sad is that? It breaks my heart to think that there are others out there like dad and they're being denied treatment because they're Medicare patients. What's wrong with this picture? We're trying to get him into another place but they want all the documentation first before they'll agree to accept his case. I guess this place is "picky" about what they will and won't treat. In the mean time the clock is ticking away. Dad may only have 7 months to live if the cancer is not brought under control.

I'm really afraid his age is going to put a huge damper on who'll accept him. Even though this man is 82, he is strong as an ox and very active. A lot of his family has survived well into their 90's and we're so hoping the same for him. He does have terrible back problems but once he gets a hold of you, forget it, you're caught and you're not going to get away. A favorite story we like to tell to new friends is how he paid for his beer in the old days. Times being what they were, entertainment money was on the short supply. But dad didn't usually have a problem. He'd meet someone at a bar and would sucker them into betting that he couldn't bend a quarter using only his fingers. Well for most, this would be a winning bet. There sure aren't many people that can bend a quarter using only their fingers. But dad sure could, and of course he'd win every time! I can just imagine the looks on their faces when they watched him bend that quarter! I bet they were pretty amazed and I'm sure there were some pretty dramatic reactions.

So how's your stress level? Is it really up there because of all the things that must be accomplished before Christmas? Mine is way out there, but as I check things off my list, I feeling much better. So I thought maybe I'd try something fun. My SIL and I spent quite a bit of time together while we were taking our turns with dad at the hospital. Of course the conversations sometimes drifted to discussing our partners and the things that drive us crazy about them. This gave us a good laugh because no matter how much you love someone, there are just certain things that just drive you nuts! So I'd love to hear what things your partner does that just drives you absolutely crazy!

I'll start....The things that really drive me crazy deal with my kitchen. I'm 5' 4.75" inches tall, which isn't very tall but it's not really short either. We've been in this house for almost 30 years, and the kitchen has been organized pretty much the same for all those years. The plates have been in one spot, the serving dishes in one spot, the canned goods in one spot, etc. etc. with the items which are used the most on the lower shelves so that I can easily reach them without having to find a step stool. You'd think that hubby dear would eventually recognize this and would know where a can of beans belongs or where to put that bowl or plate. But alas, he can't seem to get this concept into his brain. Once in a while, he'll try to help out by emptying the dish washer. Oh my goodness, I spend a week in disarray because stuff hasn't been put where it belongs. I hate spending 20 minutes looking for an item because it's not where it belongs. And it's not like logic is used on where he wants to move the item to! For example a serving bowl may be put in with the pots and pans. This drives me absolutely bonkers! Over the 36 years we've been married, I've tried to develop what I call Larry logic. When something is missing I switch to "where would Larry put it" mode and look in the most unlogical places. I also throw in a little "put it in a high place so Peggy has to use the step stool" mode and low and behold I usually find that missing item! But it can sometimes take me a while to locate it.

The second most maddening thing also deals with the kitchen. Every once in a while, he'll decide to help with the dishes and I always think how sweet! Here's his recipe for doing the dishes. Partially rinse the plates, making sure there are a few bits of green beans left on them, stack one plate on top of another without draining all the water, set on top of the dishwasher... oh but make sure the top plate is completely empty of water. Stack the glasses one on top of the other, making sure to leave a little tea or milk in the bottom of the glass and set on top of the dishwasher... oh but make sure the top glass is completely empty of any liquid. Gather together the silverware, making sure not to rinse and set them on top of the plate stack on top of the dishwasher. Now take care of the pots and pans, make sure all specs of food are removed but just use water to rinse, do not use soap and stack them on the stove, so one can't determine whether they've really been washed or just rinsed. Dry your hands and leave the kitchen, dishes are done - everything is nicely stacked on top of the dishwasher, even though it is completely empty and ready for a new load. We've had several discussions over his recipe for doing dishes but it just doesn't seem to get through. One time I decided I'd leave his nicely stacked dishes for him to finish. They sat there for 3 days before I gave up and finally finished the task! After a few baths with dirty water from the plates and smelly sour milk, I've learned to take the stack back to the sink and start all over! God bless this sweet man!

Free Vintage Christmas Images - Tags

Hi Everyone,
Just a short post today, sorry I've been away for a while. My DFIL has been hospitalized for over a week now. His gallbladder had burst and he had a pretty nasty infection. While dealing with the gallbladder, it was found that he also has bile duct cancer. He has been diagnosed with Klastin's tumors. This particular type of cancer is pretty rare with only 2,000 to 4,000 cases found a year. So it looks like there are many new challenges coming in our future. So anyway, postings on the blog may be spaced out a little farther, but I'll do my best.

I did have this image all ready to share with you before dad was hospitalized. I hope I'm not too late with it and that there are a few of you out there still working on your Christmas cards and projects. :) This image is all set to print on an 8.5 x 11 sheet and I thought it might be good for tags. Free Vintage Christmas Image, Christmas Volume 10

Hi Everyone,
Did everyone have a nice Thanksgiving? We had a houseful of people and as usual had a ton of leftovers. No cooking for me for a while. lol The kids brought out the xbox and the new Kinect and played it all evening. The Kinect sees all your movements and incorporates them into the game, so controllers aren't required. There's all kinds of games from sports to adventures to dancing. We had a grand time watching them. I'd say it's a great way to get the kids off of their butts and up and moving! Even 82 year old grandpa took his turn at playing the bowling game. It was a real hoot! I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

This week I thought I'd showcase Christmas Volume 10. This volume has three folders, Calvin 1952-55, Louise 1940-62 and Ellae 1955-57. Here's just a few of this CD's images that I love. Double click on the image and you'll see a larger view.

Thanksgiving is coming ever so quickly and the celebration of the holiday always brings to the forefront all the various things we have to be thankful for. So what would be better than for me to give a big shout out to my Design Team. These ladies are near and dear to my heart. They spend countless hours creating masterpieces with PLV images and are always full of encouraging words. They are truly special people. So here's my tribute to these special ladies.... May God keep you in his blessings! May joy and peace be with you this holiday seasons. And may all your dreams come true! Thank you so very, very much! Thanksgiving also brings thoughts of home and my bros and sis. Although for me the old homestead is now a vacant lot and my bros and sis are strung all across the nation, that warm and toasty feeling still comes to the forefront.

Past Thanksgivings

Just a sample of the Thanksgivings I remember as a child. Grandpa, Dad and Uncle Alex sitting around the table with many little cousins hovering around. Check out that Turkey, lol! Grandpa, Dad and Uncle Alex are all passed but I'm sure they will be sitting around a table somewhere, enjoying Mom's turkey.

Printing an Image from a PeggyLovesVintage CD

On the business sides of things, it seems like there are always certain questions that come up relating to the CD's and Cut Outs. Some of the most common questions relate to copyright information, viewing the image and printing the image. So I thought that maybe posting information relating to each of these subjects might be a good thing. I can just refer to the posting and provide detailed instructions,so much easier than trying to describe it just using words ;). So this week, I've created a posting relating to the aspect of printing an image directly from the CD.

On Windows base machines, the autorun
application will start up immediately
and will look something like this.

To see a larger view of any of the demonstration
windows just double click on them.

Select the folder that is to be viewed
by single left clicking on it. The Helen
Folder will be used for this demonstration.

Depending on how the Windows environment
is set up on the PC, different types of windows
could be displayed. For example, this window is
displayed with the "Details" setting.

And this window is displayed with the "Icon" setting.

But "Thumbnail" is the ideal method
for displaying the folder. To change
to the "Thumbnail" method, single left click
on "View" located in the toolbar.

In the drop down window, single left click
on Thumbnails.

Now the window will contain actual
image views which makes image
selection so much easier.

Use the scroll bar or the scroll wheel
on the mouse to move up and down
through the folder.

When the selected image is located
place the mouse pointer on it or single
left click on the image.

For this demonstration, the Windows
Picture and Fax Viewer software will be used.
This is a standard application available on
all Windows based PC's. Depending on how
the PC is configured, a different viewer may
be set as the default viewer. To check and/or
change the image viewing application to
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, right click
on the selected image. Move the mouse pointer
to Open With . If Windows Picture
and Fax Viewer is not the first item in the list
select it by moving the mouse pointer to it and
single left click. If it is first on the list, then
it is set as the default and does not need to be
changed, just single left click on any
white space to close the drop down windows.

Now, just double left click on the image to be
printed.

Locate the printer icon, it should be on the
bottom right side of the window. Double
left click on it.

This launches the Windows Photo
Printing Wizard software which
is another standard application that
is available on all Windows based PC's.

Notice the check mark that is displayed on the
selected image. At this point, additional images
may be added to the print process. Just
scroll down or over and single left click in
the box of any additional images.

Once all images have been selected,
single left click on Next .

Different printer types may display this window
differently. But comparable components should
be displayed. Look for anything relating to
preferences or setup and single left
click on it.

The resulting window should look something like
this. Notice the tabs Layout and Paper/Quality.
Make sure that Paper/Quality is selected.

Notice that Plain Paper is selected in the Media
window. Different types of papers require
different amounts of ink, this can greatly affect
the appearance of the printed image. To see the
different types of paper available for the printer,
single left click on the down arrow.

This printer seems to do best with HP Bright
White Inkjet Paper when working with standard
white card stock. Other printers may produce
better quality with a different selection. Don't
be afraid to try different types to see which
one produces the best quality. Single left
click on the paper type to make your selection.

The Quality Settings area also plays
a major roll in producing an acceptable printed
image. This selection determines how much ink
will be used. Best will of course use
the most ink and Draft will use the least
ink. Draft is a great selection for all
the test prints. But for this printer and the
paper selected Best will produce a
wonderful printed image.

Once all the selections have been made,
single left click on OK

Single left click on Next

The Layout Selection is the last step in
the print process. Notice the print preview
window. This shows how the printed image will
look on a standard 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.
It can be very helpful in ensuring that the
automatic crop or fit is not affecting major
components in the image.

Notice the Number of times to use
each Picture, this selection plays
a bigger role as the different sizes
are selected. There will be more on this
option later.

Use the scroll bar or the mouse wheel to
navigate through the different different options.

Notice how the Print Preview window changed
with 5x7 in. cutout prints selection.

This is an example of how the Number of times
to use each picture selection functions. Since
only one image has been selected for printing and
the Number of times to use each picture is
set to 2, the Print Preview window shows
the same image twice. If two different images
had been selected for printing and the Number
of times to use each picture was set to 1 the
two different images would be displayed in the
Print Preview window. If two different
images had been selected for printing and the
Number of times to use each picture was
set to 2 the two different images would be
displayed in the Print Preview window
and it would print two sheets of the double images.

The Photo Printing Wizard will only allow
printing of standard photo sizes. So as the various
options are selected and previewed watch the
effect on the actual image in the Print
Preview window. The application will resize,
crop and rotate the image to get the best fit. Try
the different sizes until one is found that best
suits the image and the project it will be used for.

This image lends itself well to the resizing applied
by the Photo Printing Wizard. Notice that the
entire image has been resized to fit in the 3.5 x 5
in. window.

And the entire image has been successfully
resized to fit in the Wallet window.

Once the size has been selected, the image
is ready to send to the printer. Single
left click on the Next button.

The print process is now complete. Single left
click on the Finish button to close the wizard.
Or if additional images need to be printed from
the folder, use the back button on the various
windows until the Picture Selection
Window has been reached.

Memory Journals, New Cut Out Contest, Special Blog Sale

Are you having a great week? I'm kind of late on my post this week, seems like whenever I can't decide what to write about something wonderful comes up to share with you. Pretty amazing right? Cindy recently purchased a couple of CD's from me and she was kind enough to let me preview her completed item. OH MY GOODNESS! is it gorgeous or what? Of course I immediately asked her if I could share it by posting it on my blog. So here it is....

I am so pleased with myself.. lol. In the last post, I spoke of a new project I was going to try and golly and be-jeepers I did it! I was so pleased with the result. I can't believe I was intimidated by something that was sooooooo easy! What was it you ask? Well, I can't tell you just yet because it will ruin a Santa surprise. But after Christmas, I'll be sure and share my project.

I'm still plugging along on the New Wedding CD. I just can't seem to get into it although I absolutely adore some of the cards. Maybe it's because my favorite cards are Christmas. I bet you sure couldn't tell that right? Well, I caved in this week and switched over to Christmas for a while and came up with 3 new Cut Outs and here they are for your preview.

Free Vintage Christmas Image, A Special Birthday Celebration and Wonderful Christmas Cards

Hi All,
I hope everyone is doing just great! Are you all ready for Halloween? The grandkids are giddy with excitement. Our weather is suppose to be a high of 62 and a low of 40, almost perfect for Trick or Treating. I can't wait to see them all dressed up!

I love it when I see completed projects using my Vintage Images and today I'd like to share a couple. The first one is from Linda, a grandmother who was celebrating the first birthday of her twin granddaughters. It was a really special event for her because the babies were born premature and they had quite a struggle. Here's their story in Linda's own words...

"Yes these twins are quite special in that they were born 3 months prematurely and remained in hospital for that time. One weighed 1.7 oz and the other 2.4oz. They are doing well and although it takes about 2 years for them to completely catch up with other babies, they are on their way. They have their actual birthdays, but preemies are also referred by their corrected age ( until 2), as to when they should have been born, so they are now 10 months (7 months corrected). Happily, I am planning this party for their first birthday in October. "

Here's what Linda made....

"We had a wonderful party for our twin preemie granddaughters who turned one and I wanted to show you how we used your fabulous vintage cards. They were a huge hit especially since our party was mainly the older friends and relatives who actually remembered these. I was able to find adorable dresses for the girls that had a similar vintage imprint on them.

The first image was the email invite I used though I changed the info on this, (as well as the girls' hair colour ;-), the second is a banner I made with your images (which btw, printed beautifully on the watercolour paper I use). Next up is a detail of the banner (hard to get in close as it was at an angle) and then a detail of one image I used on a treat box from the candy station we had.

Hope you enjoy seeing these and thank you so much again. These vintage images really helped make the party fun to plan."

I love how she did the mirrored image of the girls on the invite, very creative and very appropriate! Great job Grandma! You've created some great memories and wonderful mementos of their 1st Birthday!

I try to get out there and cruise around bloggy land at least once a week, sometimes I'm successful in getting this accomplished and sometimes I'm not. But I'm always pleasantly pleased when I happen to run across a post using my images. It's almost like getting a box of chocolates (and oh how I love chocolates!). This week I received two boxes of chocolates and I'd like to share them with you. So please take a few moments and visit Julia Moss' blog posts Celtic Girl and Snow Pair . Contest Winner, Covered Bridge Festival and Free Vintage Santa Image

I hope your week has been going great! First off I'd like to publish the winner of the contest. I had such fun reading all the entries and want to thank each and every one who shared their spider stories and wished me a Happy Birthday. I've had a week full of goose bumps and although it was really hard to decide I finally settled upon Curt from Carmel who wrote:

"Hey There! I hope you have a very happy birthday! Here's my spider story. . .
my father loved to squirrel hunt and he would take us out with him when
I was a teenager to "teach" us how to hunt. Well, he would insist that
we get into the woods before daybreak. As we would be walking in the
gloom of the woods, you would walk right into these giant spider webs
(the kind where the spider lays in the center)and you would have to
wait to feel the spider crawling on you to figure out where it was.
Some of them were huge, and they would end up on your face, neck or
in your hair. I still get creeped out thinking about those spiders on me!

Now on to other things, this last weekend we attended the Parke County Indiana, Covered Bridge Festival. This is annual event for my family and we all, well most of us anyway, really enjoy spending the day out in the crisp autumn air and searching for bargains and hard to find items. It's about a 3 hour drive for us so we start out early.

We always stop at the Ernie Pyle Memorial Park which is just on the other side of the Indiana border near a town called Dana. Ernie was a WW II correspondent who was published in 300 different papers. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1944 and died while in combat. His stories were about the out-of-the-way places he visited and the people who lived there.

We encounter our first covered bridge at this little park. The kids always enjoy romping through the leaves and expending some of their energy and being little investigators. This is Kaiden's first year where he really remembers and understands what's going on. He was totally enthralled with the bridge.

Usually, there's a little stream that runs under the bridge, but this year it was dry. So part of the fun was being able to actually climb down and check out the bottom of the bridge.

This was his third trip through..or maybe it was his fourth. He had the most fun running through the bridge, then down to the stream and up the other side.

But we had to get on the road, we had about another hour of drive time before we reached our destination. There's 30 different covered bridges throughout the county. And during the festival, there are tons of flea markets, craft sales, garage sales and vendors scattered throughout the area.

We usually head to Mansfield which is one of the biggest sites. The last time we checked, they claimed over 5,000 different vendors. It was a glorious day and it was the next to last day of the festival so it was packed with tons of people. This is a pic of the row we had just completed. It's kind of hard to see but there are plenty of heads bobbing up and down the row.

There's so much to look at and choose from that it's really hard to decide what to buy. I thought these little Snowmen were just the cutest. Maybe I'll try to make something like these, if I can find the parts.

This vendor has been here for several years and I keep thinking that one of these days I'll make one of these. I think they're just the cutest and would be perfect for the grandkid's bedrooms. Just in case you can't tell, they're little individual chalk boards that have been decorated around the edges.

At the end of the day we were exhausted and our carts were full of purchases as you can see here. But we had a great time and spent lots of money. Some of my best buys included some potpourri from the vendor in the picture below. It smelled so good and had some cute teeny tiny pumpkins mixed in. I thought it would be great for Thanksgiving. One of my other great buys was a set of 1000 count sheets for 15.00.

I know this is a really long post but I thought I'd share another image with you. This is from the Saint Clair collection. I love the Santa in this image and thought he would be great in a collage. So as usual, make sure you double click on it so you can save him at the max size.

Spider Contest and Kittens Oh My! Free Vintage Image

Hi Everyone,

Wow, I can't believe another week has gone by already? Time just seems to whiz by and I try and look back on what I've accomplished and I kind of go huh where did it go? lol I'm sure I accomplished something; didn't I? Well in all truth, I have been procrastinating a bit and finding that I have to force myself to get busy and work on card clean up. I've been trying to finish up a new Wedding CD which I am kind of excited about. It has lots and lots of brides but the cards have a lot of flocking on them and it seems like it is taking forever to get them cleaned up. But anyway....
I'll keep plodding along and eventually it will get finished!

The nights are really getting pretty chilly. How about where you live? We live in a kind of country setting. Not to long ago, our area used to be pretty empty, full of fields and woods. But it has slowly built up and the fields are gone and the woods are off limits. It still kind of has the country setting, all the houses having at least 2 acre plots with most of them having more. So, we still see quite a few little creatures that roam the area.

I always approach this time of year with a little bit of caution, why you ask? Well, the creatures in my area are trying to get ready for winter and are looking for some nice abode to take up residence and hopefully make their winter survivable. I guess you could say they're looking for their Florida. lol Once in while, they somehow decide that my house is Florida. So sometimes, I'm lucky enough to find a bird that has worked its way down the fireplace chimney or we glimpse a mouse as it steals some of the dog's food and scampers off to its cozy little nest. I haven't been lucky enough to find a snake yet and hopefully I never will. But, the thing that causes me the most distress are the wolf spiders!

Are you familiar with these scary little creatures? And I really shouldn't be calling them little creatures because they can get quite big. And talk about fast! Those little buggers can move at the speed of lightening! They just give me the willies! Anyway, at this time of year, I'm always watching out for them. We usually wind up with at least two that are monster sized plus others that are not quite grown but still scary.

How big can they get you ask? Well I'm not an expert on them, but I can tell you this little story. Several years back we were at the in-laws and it was just a little after dark. I happened to look at their front porch stoop and noticed what I thought was a mouse standing in front of their door. So being the good d-i-l, I went over to scare it away before it found its way into the house. OMGosh, it was the biggest wolf spider I had ever seen! Needless to say... I didn't scare it away, quite the opposite in fact, he/she had me running the other way yelling for my DH as I ran. I haven't found anything near that big in my house but there have been some that are pretty big. And to this day, I still run and holler for DH. lol

Here's a couple of spider facts that I've heard that really gives me the willies. Number 1 you're never more than six feet away from a spider and Number 2 on average every human eats at least one spider a year. YUCK!

So, why spend so much time on such a scary write up on something you dislike so much, you ask? Well I thought we might have a little fun, considering it's Halloween and all. Hi Everybody!
Wow, what a busy week! My daughter (Tara) and her husband (Chris) had their annual Weenie Roast last Saturday and boy was it a blast! The day started out as windy and rainy but by the afternoon the sun peaked out and it turned into a beautiful day! God provided us with a beautiful sunset to start our party. After the sun went down, the weather turned crisp and quite chilly. It couldn't have been any better - perfect for a bonfire and roasting weenies!

This year we expected about 180 to 200 people to attend so we had a lot of prep work in order to make it a success. The primary menu included weenies, chili, brownies carmel apples and smores. As usual, it was my job to make the chili, carmel apples and brownies. Tara was responsible for the hot dogs and smores.. lol

The chili is always a big hit. This year we expanded to three roasters of chili and 240 hot dogs. We started cooking the chili on Friday night and by Saturday night it was absolutely perfect. Jordan and Kaiden helped make the brownies and of course they couldn't resist sampling the batter to make sure it passed inspection. I know it's probably not a good thing to do, but we just couldn't resist!

A huge thank you goes out to Phil, Terra and Whitey for helping to supply the wood for the bonfire. Phil made a special trip on Friday to bring out one load and Whitey brought a second load on Saturday. That was a huge help and greatly appreciated!

Phil and Terra, sorry Whitey but somehow I didn't get a pic of you. The fire sure was enjoyed by everyone! It seemed to grow bigger and bigger as the night went on and the temperature dropped. The wood was greatly appreciated by all!

This year the band was a group called Royal Pain. They were awesome and everyone seemed to enjoy them. There was a lot of singing along and dancing going on throughout the evening! I tired to do a couple of videos of the band but alas, I sure won't get any Oscars for my film footage so I think I'll save you from the torture.

The kids all seemed to be having a great time. They really enjoyed the toys, the trampoline, the sand box, and the swing sets. And of course, the glow sticks were a huge success as well.

So I think everyone had a good time, or at least they look liked they were having fun.

By the end of evening, everyone and I mean everyone was exhausted but very content.

So that's it on Weenie Roast 2010. We went through all three roasters of chili - except for about one bowl full. All the hot dogs were gone except for about 10. The brownies and carmel apples were finished off early and two kegs of beer were drained down to their very last drop. A successful party if I do say so myself.

Free Vintage Halloween Greeting Card Image

Hi Everyone!
Are you having a good week? I sure hope so! It's been a very productive week for me. I finally, finally was able to get the web site all updated! That sure has been a long time coming! I think I was 8 CDs behind the ebay and etsy postings. But, it's all done now. I revised the pages so that, hopefully, it's easier to navigate. I've added a Sales/Specials/Close Out page which has a few items on it at this very moment and I removed the restrictions on mailing the CD's internationally. Also, I'm so excited, I've acquired another new scrapbook this week. It was Alice and Floyd's and it dates from 1949-51. It's a pretty cool scrapbook with all types of cards, Wedding, New Baby, Birthday, Christmas etc. But the biggest surprise was one very lonely Halloween card. I couldn't believe it. My very first one! I was giddy with excitement! Silly I know, but out of the thousands of cards that I've acquired I didn't have a single Halloween card! Happy Birthday Sis

Hi Everyone,
Tomorrow, Sept 17th, is a very special day and with all the good intentions I had, I must admit that I failed my task (sigh!). Not without good reason I might add, but the results are still the same - I didn't get my project completed on time. So, I decided I'd do a blog tribute for my wonderful lil' sis. I hope you enjoy.

Some of you know my lil sis as Sharon, Sherri to us. She is almost exactly 4 years younger than myself and she was number 4 out of 6 in the sibling range. So armed with that information, here's a short rendition of Sherri's travels through life.

This is where it all started. We weren't from a wealthy family but I also wouldn't classify us as poor. We always had food on the table and clean clothes to wear and every once in a while we were treated with a special outing for an ice cream cone. That's me way over on the left, Sherri and then our two younger brothers. The older two brothers aren't in the picture although the oldest brother's picture is hanging on the wall. Notice how Sherri is just eying that tricycle! She can't wait to get her hands on it!

I'm not sure if this is Kindergarten or 1st grade but it doesn't really matter. Mom would always complain about your hair. She just couldn't understand why it wasn't growing!

Second grade and aren't you just the sweetest little angel? I think the veil was hiding the horns (smile)! Notice the hair is still being really stubborn!

First Communion was always a big event. Of course, the house was full of people and mom was busy doing one of the things she did best. Busy in the kitchen cooking for a huge family gathering to celebrate your big day.

I'm not sure how old you were in this picture, maybe in 7th or 8th grade? There's more hair but it's still pretty slow in the growing department.

Father Daughter dances were always a big deal and so very special. As I remember, it seemed like Daddy was always busy, if he wasn't working, he was bowling or golfing. Daddy held two jobs while we were growing up. The poor guy had to, after all he had 8 mouths to feed on his salary. So when we had his full undivided attention, we felt extra special.

Check out that hair! Puberty must have helped a bunch!

Wow! Already we're at your High School graduation! I don't remember attending it but surely I did! Such major changes occurred between the Father Daughter Dance and Graduation. You guys moved to Kentucky and you had to adjust to a whole different way of life. You've grown into such a beautiful woman where did the time go and how did you grow so fast!

Wow! More changes in our lives, I'm getting married. Isn't she just the most beautiful Maid of Honor that you've seen? I still love the dresses, the hat might need to go but at least everything wasn't yellow! LMBO

We're up to your wedding day. What a beautiful bride! But did you really have to pick yellow as your primary color? Zombie world here I come! My skin color and yellow just don't get along! LMBO

You're off and running now! So many challenges are ahead, houses and kids, bills and work, what an adjustment!

This is one of my favorite pics of you and the kids! Such gorgeous children and a beautiful and accomplished mom. How proud I am to call you sis. If I remember correctly, this pic was taken during a pretty stressful part of your life. I remember how proud I was of you during this time. You seemed to handle everything so well.

Here you are in the 1980's, so many changes have occurred. You're now a single mom, you've moved to Reno and started a new life. You've met a new man and you are charging ahead with a full head of steam. How courageous of you to take this step. I don't know if I would have been able to exhibit such courage. While celebrating Thanksgiving in Texas, I remember a certain handsome stranger came and knocked on the door and the family had their first glimpse of Randy. How we all laughed when we found out he'd won enough at the casinos for the plane ticket and was able to spring his surprise visit on you. I thought then, what a sweet, sweet man and what a keeper! I think he immediately won over everyone's heart.

Oh one other thing, check out that hair! It's hard to believe that at one time mom had a concern that it would never grow! LMBO

1990's here we come! What others may not know is how big of a camera bug you are. Anyone need a pic taken? lmbo You've married that handsome, wonderfully funny man, the kids are pretty well grown and on their own. Hmmmmm, I wonder what hobby will take up all that extra free time?

Have a wedding to give? You can't find a better helper than lil' sis. Working together, we've set up 3 weddings, not counting our own. One we had to do twice because it was an outside wedding and of course it just had to rain that day. And wouldn't you know it, everything was all set up and had to be all torn down and reset. Oh my, what a day! After the rain, the sun came out and the weather was just absolutely beautiful. The ceremony and reception went on without another hitch and a good time was had by everyone.

Ok enough with the yellow.... Hey it's the same shirt only 2 years later. Now I know you're wearing it just because it's my favorite color, right? (wink wink)

Awwwww... this is one of my favorite pics of you two. Such a cute couple! Ahhhhh Smoochie Smoochie!

So now we're almost current. But what would a tribute be without a somewhat current picture of the clan. Aren't the tee-shirts just the cutest! Created and made by lil' bro - on the left. Who knew the whole family is soooooo talented. lmbo You may not be able to tell but the image in the center of the tee-shirt is big bro's - on the right - bald head. We had quite a laugh over that one!

So, I hope you've enjoyed the tribute to lil' sis' life. I didn't cover all the events in her history but hopefully enough to give you just a little insight into her past.

I love her dearly, my wonderfully talented, sweet, awesome, lil' sis and I hope you'll help me by wishing her the best birthday ever. So please, please, take a moment and visit her blog and wish her a very Happy Birthday.

Vintage Children's Birthday Greeting Card Images Volume 2

Hi Everyone!
I sure hope you've had a great week so far! It's been pretty good here. I've complained so much about the weather that I must say that it's been absolutely gorgeous here! Not too hot, very little humidity... just wonderful!

I've been busy finishing up the Children's Birthday Volume 2 CD and I'm so happy to report that it's all finished. I had a lot of fun with this CD. The cards date from 1924 to 1966. There's number cards for ages 1 to 8, a few cards for family members - son, daughter, grandson, aunt and niece. You'll find boys and girls and teenagers, puppies and kittens, cowboys and Indians and fireman, sorry I'm late and even a few party invitations. I hope you love the finished product as much as I do.

Did you have a great Labor Day weekend? We sure did although it was rather busy. We had a Wedding and a Hog Roast we had to attend. The weather was gorgeous and everyone had a good time. Of course, they were prime picture events and proud grandma just has to share :)

At the hog roast, it was a little chilly for swimming but Jordan just couldn't resist. She was freezing when she got out. But, she wasn't cold enough to resist a blueberry slurpy which resulted in a blue tongue. Don't you just love the wonderful outfit - a winter coat and a bathing suit - what a combination!

And last but not least, Kaiden's first day of pre-k. He was sooooooooo excited! Isn't he a handsome little stud muffin.

Free Vintage Image and Hot Air Balloon Festival

How's everyone today? Great I hope, it's kind of a rainy day here but at least we don't have to worry about the hurricane! I hope it moves to the east as they predicted. I have a lot of buyers from South Carolina and hope that everyone stays safe and dry!

Well, I was able to get my new Christmas Vol 13 CD posted on Etsy and Ebay and amazingly enough I beat my goal! :) Surprise! Surprise! So check it out by clicking here for etsy and here for ebay .

Now I'm working on Child's Birthday Vol 2. This is a fun CD filled with gorgeous images. I've been working on this one for quite a while and it's almost ready. I have about 12 more images to clean and then it will be finished. Hopefully within the next week I'll be able to share the video with you. I can't believe we're into September already, August was so full of activities that it just seemed to whip by. The weekends were full of family reunions, the state fair and a Hot Air Balloon festival. We enjoyed each and everyone of them. Of course, we took a lot of pictures and I won't take up your time by sharing most of them. I would like to share a short video from the Hot Air Balloon festival which is an annual event in Lincoln Illinois. Part of the festival is the night glow which is so cool that I'd like to share it. If you ever get a chance to attend a Festival like this, I'd highly recommend it.

Free Vintage Wedding Shower Image, New DT Member and Christmas Vol 13

Happy Wednesday! I have some great news! The wonderfully talented Heather has agreed to join the Design Team. Heather finds the time to maintain the BBTB2 blog site as well creating her own works of wonder. She brings great talent and diversity to the team and we're so excited to have her join us. Now some more exciting news, Christmas Volume 13 (yes I went ahead and made it 13 lol) is complete. Now, all I need to do is create the CD label and get all the images ready for the posting. You should be able to find it in the Shops late Friday, early Saturday at the latest. I love how this CD turned out! It has lots of Santas, Snowmen and kids. You'll find all kinds of animals from puppies to kittens, to reindeer, to rabbits to even a giraffe. There's a card from Okinawa and the Rhine River and even a couple Florida cards. Do you love art deco? There's tons of the post card type with lots and lots of art deco. The video has been uploaded to YouTube and is ready for you to review. You'll see all the fronts of the cards and some of the secondary images but the sentiment/verse pages were left out to save time on the video. I hope you take a few minutes out of your busy schedule and check out it here.

I've spoken before about cleaning the cards and you may be wondering what I mean by that. I collect scrapbooks, lots of them... I love it. Some of them are pretty dogged eared by the time I get them. They're bent, stained, torn, flocked etc. but to me each one is special. The original owner had a special reason for saving their cards and taking the time to put them into a scrapbook. It was a work of love and I can feel that love as I browse through them and work with the cards. So I try and honor that love by taking the time to bring the life back into their cards by restoring them to their original beauty. Here's an example of a before and after Wedding Shower card. Depending upon the type of damage and the image detail, it can take hours to clean it up. And yes, it can get pretty tiring. If I get totally bored, I just move on and come back and work on it later. It's very challenging and yet satisfying. So I hope that gives you a little insight on what it takes to share these wonderful images with you.

Free Vintage Christmas Images, BBTB2 winners, Ornament Exchange

Hi Everyone! Have you had a great week? Boy it's still super busy around here! Have you ever heard the phrase.. "the faster I go the behinder I get!" That's just what I feel like this week. I always have such great goals but yet it seems like something always gets in the way and it takes a lot longer to reach the goal then anticipated. I always like to think that I'm just too optimistic in my plan and that it's not because I was lax in trying... lol

Anyway, I have lots to share this week so I'd better get on to it. Last week we were out doing errands and having supper and trying to get home before a predicted thunderstorm broke. But as normal... we missed our goal and the thunderstorm hit while we were at a local Big W store...you know the one... anyway we had to kill some time until the storm ended. As we left, this is what we saw. It was so unusual to me that I just had to snap some pics. They were taken one right after the other so you can see how fast the storm was moving. Have you ever seen anything like this?

Congratulations to Linda and Tonya, the winners of the BBTB2 giveaway! I hope they have fun with their images and maybe they'll be so kind as to share some of their completed projects. Also, Tonya is sponsoring an ornament exchange, you can get all the details here. I think it sounds like a lot of fun and I'm going to participate. I just need to figure out what I'm going to make. I'm such a procrastinator, I usually don't get into making Christmas ornaments until after Thanksgiving, so this will help me start a little earlier this year. Now for shop info, I've been working very hard on two new CD releases, Child's Birthday Volume 2 and Christmas Volume 13 - I don't know maybe I'll skip 13 and go right to 14... don't want to jinx the volume... lol. They're both about ready for release. The Christmas volume will probably beat the Birthday volume because I needed a few more numbered Birthday cards to complete it. Lucky me, I happened to find a scrapbook for sale that had a ton of numbered cards. I'm still waiting for it to get here but once received I should be able to finish it up pretty quickly. I'm very happy with the Christmas Volume CD, I think it has become one of my favorites. The cards on this album date from 1921 to 1955. It has a lot of cutie patootie cards, Santa and Snowmen rule on this CD. Plus there are lots of the old fashioned Post Card type. One of the folders in this CD is from the Carol Scrapbook, circa 1955. Sis and I just drooled over it when I was lucky enough to win it. I think you'll love it too. I'm hoping to have the Christmas CD ready by the next blog post... so wish me luck on reaching my goal... lol. Free Vintage Halloween Image

Happy Friday the 13th to everyone. Are you avoiding those black cats? I'm not very superstitious but I firmly believe that you can't be too careful! :)

Terribly hot here, high is supposed to be 97 with a feels like 110. I just love this Illinois weather...not! There's supposed to be two more days of this horrible heat before it lets up. Of course, the cool down is supposed to follow some potentially severe thunderstorms... normal kind of stuff for central Illinois.

Trying to keep cool has been a major activity around here. The pool has seen lots of activity and has been a welcome relief. Another option is to think fall and winter. With that in mind, I went looking for an image to share with you today. Halloween is one of my most favorite holidays and sadly in all the scrapbooks that I've collected I haven't been fortunate enough to have any Halloween cards.... not even one! But...I do have a get well card that kind of fits the bill. So that's what I'm sharing today. I think she would make a fun Halloween card and not be too scary for the little ones. She's from the St. Clair collection which ranges from 1946-57. Make sure you double click on the image before you save it.

Free Vintage Image from Ada's Collection 1930-1950

Hi everyone. Hope your week has been going great! It has still been awfully busy here. Over the weekend we attended my husbands Family Reunion. This tradition has been going on for over 100 years. There's usually a good sized crowd and of course the food is always good! The kids have a great time with swimming, a trampoline, a jump house and a hay rack ride. It was a wonderful weekend, terribly hot but at least it didn't rain. A good time was had by all!

Today I'd like to share a fun image from Ada's Collection which covers 1930 - 1950. She sure loved her cards and her collection is one of my largest. I'm pretty sure she's an immigrant to the US. I'm not sure whether she's Swedish, Dutch, or German. I'm leaning toward Dutch because she has several cards with Dutch images but she also has some featuring Stockholm. Maybe you can help me solve the mystery by telling me what language is used on this card.

She has several cards in this language but I'm kind of afraid to use them because I don't know what they say. :)

I'm guessing she had a great sense of humor because she's received some really cute and funny cards. So to celebrate Ada, here's one of my favorite cards from her collection. The card is on textured paper which has come through in the image so you may want to use plain card stock. Make sure you double click on the image before you save it.

Free Vintage Bad Lil' Boys Image, Quilt Blocks and Six Flags

Hi everyone! Sorry about being such a terrible blogging friend. I've been a little slow on my posting and visiting all my blogging friends. I promise to try and do better.

I hope your week has been going great. It's been pretty busy around here. It always seems like summer time is extremely busy and that it just whooshes through. We went with the kids to Six Flags over America near St Louis. I think we picked the hottest day of the year to go but we did have a blast and the grandkids really enjoyed themselves. Kaiden has gotten tall enough that he can now ride some of the big rides. He absolutely loved the Scrambler and the Log ride. We all decided we'd do Thunder River which is the big round tube where about 10 people sit in it and you take a ride down a mini rapids. Kaiden and I happened to be lucky enough to sit on the side where all the water came in. We were drenched! Poor Kaiden, the water would come in and just cover him from head to toe. He took it very well and didn't cry even a little bit. I would think that it would have been very scary for a 3 year old but after the initial shock he loved it. Jordan was a brave little girl. She rode almost all of the roller coasters some of them twice even. A good time was had by everyone and no one lost their lunches :)

I love it when I hear from buyers and they share pictures of what they're doing with the images. Recently, I was contacted by Rose who purchased the Collection of Cuties Volume 1 CD . Rose makes quilts and sells them in a little shop in Toronto. She used the download option for her CD and as she was downloading she was designing quilts that she wanted to make with the images. Anyway I thought her blocks were so cute that I just have to share them with you. Rose doesn't have an on-line shop but you can contact her via email or through the convo option in etsy

New CD Announcement and Free Vintage Christmas Images

Yipppppeeeee! I've finally finished them. After 2 months of work and many hours on the PC, Christmas Volumes 9, 10, 11 and 12 are finally released! I was beginning to think that I would never get them finished! I feel about 20 lbs lighter -I wish!... lol

So anyway, Volumes 9 through 11 are replacing Christmas Volumes 1 through 4. Yes, I'm down one volume. I eliminated the Santa folder that was on each of these volumes and I filled up the CDs with additional images from scrapbooks which hadn't previously been released. I've also moved the folders around so that even if you've purchased one of the old volumes the new volumes will have images that weren't there before. I've also completed additional clean ups on the images. I've learned a lot since I first published these CDs and now these older images have been brought up to date, so to speak.

Christmas Volume 12 is totally new. It has all of the wonderful Christmas Post Card images from Joyce who I've mentioned on previous posts. Her post cards are from 1908 through 1924. They're absolutely gorgeous! In her folder you'll find quite a few Happy New Year post cards which I think are unique. There's also some fantastic Santas. This CD also includes the Long folder which dates from 1947-1951, the Malick and Battinger folder which dates from 1940-1949 and the Rose and Tony folder which dates from 1948 through 1954.

Free Vintage Patriotic Image

Hi Everyone! Are you ready for the big holiday weekend? I sure am! After all of the nasty rainy days, we've finally had a beautiful week with bright sunny days and very low humidity. It's supposed to be getting hotter and with that comes the higher humidity but we're supposed to be free from rain until late Monday night. Yippeeee!

July is a big birthday month for my family. We have birthdays on the 2nd, the 4th, the 10th and 21st. So the weekend will be very busy with celebrating birthdays and attending all the holiday celebrations! What fun it will be especially with the nice weather.

Today I'd like to tell you a little bit about Joyce's collection. She collected her cards as a young child. Some of them she found hidden in the house they moved into and some she got from a neighbor. She and her sister, who has passed, used to play with the postcards and pretend that they were sending them to each other. I can just imagine the fun they used to have with the post cards! And I'm sure Joyce has many precious memories associated to them.

I was totally thrilled and honored when Joyce contacted me and asked if I'd like to "inherit" her collection. The postcards are well worn and take a lot of time to restore but slowly and surely I'm working on them. Depending on how badly they are damaged, the restoration of the cards can take hours to complete. Today, I'd like to share the before and after on one of Joyce's patriotic postcards. This postcard was published in 1909 by E. Nash. Here's the before card, make sure you double click on it.

Because of its age, it's hard to imagine that it's 101 years old, this particular postcard falls into the antique category vs vintage. Do you know the difference? An item must be 100 years old to fall into the antique category and 25 years old to fall into the vintage category. Anyway, even though this image has a copyright notice it falls into the public domain because of its age. So feel free to use it as you wish.

Sadly, because of a computer crash and the subsequent PC restore, I've lost Joyce's email address, but maybe fate will play a role and she'll stumble across this post. A big thanks to Joyce for sharing her precious postcards.

Announcements, Sassy Lil Sketches, Free Vintage Get Well Image

Hi everyone, how's your week going? Great I hope! I have lots of information to share today, so I'm just going to jump right in.

First, I'd like to apologize to anyone who's had trouble accessing the web shop. Storms have just been beating us down and I always take it down when a storm comes through. Today more storms are predicted but then we're supposed to be in about a 5 day stretch of good weather. Yeah!

Second, I was asked to be the July sponsor over at Sassy Lil Sketches . It should be a lot of fun, so make sure you check it out and plan on playing along. The sketches will be available on the July 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th.

Third, have you seen the new cut outs, Flower Babies 1 and Flower Babies 2? They are just the cutest! They're available in my ebay and etsy shops.

Fourth, in the very near future I will be retiring these CDs, Christmas Volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4. Quit honestly these are some of my earliest attempts with the CDs. I have been wanting to reorganize and improve these CDs for a while and I've almost completed that process. Once I've finished, I'll retire the originals. So if you've been keeping an eye on them with the intent to purchase in the future, you need to act now. At the moment all of these CDs are only available in the etsy and web shops.

Lastly, the free image. This week I decided to share an image from a get well card. Isn't she just the cutest? I love her swirly top and striped pants.. lol. I thought she would also be great for a "job well done" card, so I included a modified version without the blood pressure cuff. Make sure you double click on the images before you save them.

Free Vintage Bird House Image

Hi everyone are you having a great week? Our weather has still been pretty bad. Lots of afternoon thunderstorms and loads and loads of rain. We had another gully washer yesterday. Once again all the viaducts flooded and believe it not, people still try and drive through it and of course their cars wound up stuck in the middle. You'd think they'd know by now that it's not a smart thing to do. We're supposed to have a sunny day today but rain's projected to start again on Friday.

Anyway, I'm in the mood for something cheerful and what's more cheerful than a birdhouse with beautiful flowers. So I thought I'd share this gorgeous bird house from a Vintage Birthday Greeting card. Hopefully, you're not getting all the rain we've had but if you are... maybe this will help a little. Make sure you double click on the image before you save it.

Free Vintage Image - Bon Voyage

How's everyone doing? Great I hope! Are you planning a vacation for this summer? We don't have any plans for a trip. We've been trying to figure out when we could fit one in but it looks like just about every weekend has something going on. So it's going to be tough to schedule something. I would love to at least get in a week of camping with the grandkids.

Have you ever taken a cruise? I haven't but I know lots of people who have. I'm convinced that the cruises of today are primarily big tourist traps.

Did you know that Germany lead the way for developing the huge cruise ships. Also, that Germany gave America and Britain cruise ships as reparations for World War 1? Prior to 1920 transatlantic ships mostly carried supplies and immigrants. But in the 1920 to 1940 time frame, rich American passengers replaced the immigrants. The ships catered to the rich and famous. They enjoyed luxurious settings featuring elegant food and on-board activities like swimming pools and tennis courts.

It was a big deal back in those days to take a voyage on a ship. The event was truly celebrated with pre-cruise parties and welcome back celebrations. I can just imagine the excitement and anticipation that preceded the voyage.

Today I'd like to share an image from a Bon Voyage card. I love the color combination and the composition of this card. I've included several renditions so that you can either use it as a Bon Voyage card or for some other project that you may have in mind. Make sure you double click on the image before you save it.

Free Vintage Image

Hi Everyone,
I hope you've had a wonderful week. It's been terribly stormy and rainy around here. I apologize to anyone who has tried to access the web site this week. I took the server down just about every afternoon because of the weather. On Wednesday, we lost power about 5 times and had surges 3 more times. I was so thankful that I'd shut everything down or I'm sure I'd still be restoring the PCs today.

We had 7 to 11 inches of rain depending on where you were located in the city. On one afternoon alone, we received 2 to 5 inches in a 2 hour time frame. The news had videos of the rain water gushing out of the manholes just like a geyser and images of entire cars submerged under water at the viaducts. Some areas had the water gushing out of their sink drains and toilets. I was so glad that we live in the country and are attached to a septic. It has finally cleared up and we're on target for a great Memorial Day weekend.

Today I thought I'd share an image that could be used as a background for a card or a frame for a picture. I choose to use it as a frame for a picture of my mom and dad on their wedding day. Make sure you double click on the image before you save it.
